Description


Pianello del Lario is a pretty village situated on the western shore near the top end of Lake Como.
It is made up of numerous hamlets amidst woods of birch and chestnut trees, which can be reached by the footpaths that zigzag up the mountain.
The Belmonte B&B is in one of this hamlets and can boast a breathtaking view of the Lake.
In the mountain woodland above the village there are deer, roe, badgers, squirrels, wild boar, stone martens, dormouse, and there are buzzards, kites, owls, and eagles can sometimes be seen flying in the sky.
There is cow, sheep and goat rearing and local produce can be bought for example; home-made butter, cheese and honey.
Grapes and olives thrive in the mild climate.
Alongside the Lake there are wild ducks, grebes, swans and herons.
Some fishing is allowed.
The local agon, whitefish, perch, pike and trout are delicious.
In the summer a variety of mushrooms can be picked in the woods.
You can visit many of the beautiful villas, Bellagio and the old abbey of Piona by taking a boat trip from the landing stage in Pianello.
B&B Belmonte is an ideal base for trekking along the “Alta Via Dei Monti Lariani” and mountain biking. Water-sports such as wind-surf and sailing are very popular because of the ideal winds and currents.
The B&B Belmonte is the perfect place for a week-end, an active holiday or just simply to relax in the green, and peaceful countryside.

How to reach us


From the A9 exit Como Nord and follow the directions to Menaggio. From Lugano follow the directions to the border: Confine Gandria / St. Moritz then through Porlezza to Menaggio. At Mennagio go through the tunnel, northwards towards Sondrio and Chiavenna. In Cremia take the right hand turn to Pianello del Lario, do not go into the tunnel. In Pianello near the Piazza take the turning to the left, signposted Alle Frazioni and Commune. * Then turn immediately left again and follow the road up the hill for about 1.5 Kms and take the turning on the left to Belmonte. Ignore the turning to St. Anna on the way. From Sondrio or Chiavenna take the road down the West side of the lake. After Dongo, at the entrance to the tunnels, take the small tunnel on the right signposted Musso and Pianello del Lago. After the centre of Pianello, after Bar Sport, take the turning to the right signposted Alle Frazione and Commune. Follow the above directions from *. Look at the Map on our website.
